comments | This is a restricted site due to private land ownership and sensitivity. Members only site. We have been given permission to fly this site only under these rules. Please don't jeopardise this site and the others under negotiation. Please pay all fines to the club treasurer.During the shooting season [Oct - March] the site may be closed on certain weekend days.A notice at the entrance to the site will generally have the affected dates, but even without prior warning you must be prepared to leave if requested to. Detling Hill has a VOR/DME beacon, which is 1 mile downwind of the site.PPL pilots use this beacon as a waypoint, beware of powered aircraft. There is a large radio installation at Frinsbury,1 mile NE of the site, which must be avoided at all costs. There is a horse paddock to the left of take off, behind the houses.Avoid this asthe horses can get twitchy. This site is shared with model flyers, there has been friction vin the past but relations are now improving.Speak to modellers before you take off. Ridge runs are difficult due to the small size of the site.It can get quite turbulant due to the upwind topography.Low airtime pilots may only fly when the crop is out and must check with a club coach on the conditions .During the summer months thermal activity gets strong and the wind tends to pick up as mid day approaches. With cross - country fights you need to take into account the new area of trees planted behind the field behind take off. |
