takeoff | Go to Rudaki and Omar Khayam Street intersection at north end of town in Dushanbe. On west side of this intersection you can find taxi to Alakjin (30 somani). From where the taxi drops you off in Alakjin village, walk north along a small road (that changes into a path) following the stream. After 10 mins, where the stream forks, take the right (easterly) fork. Follow that along a well worn donkey trail for 5 more minutes then take a sharp right along the back side of a cherry orchard (where the farmer gave me a huge bag of cherries!) From here work your way up a fairly steep hill side following numerous small donkey trails. The takeoff is due east of the cherry orchard and up about 200m. You can't miss it when you arrive - it's a large flat grassy area with takeoffs possible in any direction except north. Hike takes 0:45 to 1:15hrs and there is an altitude gain of about 350m. |

landing | If the big water bassin in the valley is empty you can easily land there. If not you have to look out for places along the river. If you go XC there are many large fields to land in everywhere in the main Dushanbe valley. Up into mountain valleys options get fewer. Watch out for hidden cables coming down hillsides into valleys with villages!! |
weather | None |
rules | Not sure about exact airspace but it would be wise to stay well away from the main Dushanbe Airport to the south of the city. |
access | See above. |
comments | Amazing site with huge potential. Make sure you don't get too close to the Uzbekistan border! Apparently Tajik military are authorised to shoot! |
