takeoff | alti:1150m after 13h the breeze is coming. Thermic during the afternoon, great flight at the end of the day, over the Aiguebelette lake. |
---|---|
landing | near the entrance to the highway, on your right. Be careful, this area is fragile. Pack your glide under the trees, near the parking. Conditions : Unless you happen to be there by strong Est wind ("Le Farou") where you might find uncomfortable lee side landing, it is rarely windy, its position makes it protected from most winds. This landing is also called "the Swamp", if you attempt landing during winter (January to March) you might be displeased by the 10 to 20cm mud waiting for you. |
weather | The takeoff is under the wind if it's coming from the North, NE, E or SE. Still flyable and possible to takeoff by North moderate wind (bellow 15km/h) but be careful by higher wind. By any East component of wind you might find a gentle West breeze at takeoff to let you believe it is fine. Be extra careful, check the wind sock on tree top. You might be able to take off anyway but your flight might be rough and very uncomfortable (even dangerous). |
rules | ![]() The most recent updates about this area can be found on their website . We highly recommand you to check FFVL information about this site before you come and fly here. |
access | from Chambéry take the highway to Lyon. After the 'L'Épine' tunnel go out (Novalaise/Lac d'Aiguebelette, exit n°12). First crossroad on your left, and another time left immediately. Landing is just behind trees. To go on the takeoff go to the 'col de l'Épine' pass with the D916 road. Just before the pass turn on your left and take a road on 3 km. Follow 'décollage' advertising. |
comments | good for child, there is a beautiful lake just near the site. No wind and hot water. |
